The Save Vulnerable Mother and Child (SVMC) organization recently visited host communities in the Gedo region, particularly in Bardhere, to assess the devastating impacts of climate change and prolonged droughts affecting Somalia. These environmental challenges have led to the widespread death of livestock and a critical shortage of water, leaving communities struggling to survive. The once lush landscapes are now barren, with green grasses absent due to insufficient rainfall, exacerbating food insecurity and threatening livelihoods. During their visit, SVMC engaged with local residents to understand their struggles and explore potential support strategies, emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change and enhance community resilience in the face of these ongoing challenges.
